Newly Recognized Breeds’ Sires List
On September 24, 2020, CKC received approval from the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada (AAFC) to add 12 new breeds to Section 24.1 of the Canadian Kennel Club By-laws:
Anatolian Shepherd Dog | Australian Kelpie | Black Russian Terrier |
Finnish Lapphund | Glen of Imaal Terrier | Lagotto Romagnolo |
Mudi | Portuguese Sheepdog | Rat Terrier |
Shikoku | Spanish Water Dog | Tibetan Mastiff |
As these breeds are now eligible for full registration, CKC has automatically adjusted the status of all dogs of these breeds that were previously issues an MSN and issued those dogs a new Canadian or Foreign-born dog registration number.
As such, some of the information you have on file for dogs and litters that you are in the process of registering may now be outdated, i.e., previously issued MCN numbers for Sire’s that you do not own.
